Project  Bend, Oregon Cultivation Facility

GOALS
Root Engineers provided Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design services for a cannabis grow facility in Bend, Oregon. The goal of this project was to provide precise temperature and humidity control for the grow spaces with energy efficiency in mind.

PROCESS & RESULTS
Various HVAC designs were pursued, including a chilled/hot water plant with interior fan coils, as well as packaged electric DX units with scroll compressors, hot gas reheat, and a scavenger wheel to ace as an economizer without sacrificing the CO2 charge within the grow rooms. The Root Engineers team worked with the general contractor and subcontractors involved in the building process to ensure that the final design was within the owner’s requirements and budget.

Project  Clackamas County Cultivation and Extraction Facility

GOALS
Root Engineers provided MEP design services for a cultivation and extraction facility in Clackamas County, Oregon. The goal of this project was to provide precise temperature and humidity control for the grow spaces with energy efficiency in mind.

PROCESS & RESULTS
The HVAC design included a 400-ton water-cooled chilled water system, with an economizer operation to allow for compressor free operation when outdoor conditions allow. The hot water for the facility is provided via heat pumps that utilize the heat rejected from the chillers as the source for the heating loop. Fan coils inside the cultivation rooms utilize variable frequency drives in order to dehumidify without overcooling the spaces. This facility also includes a BHO extraction process.

Project  Extraction Facility Design

GOALS
This particular facility included CO2 and BHO extraction processes, and Root Engineers provided the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services to support their operation.

Root Engineers has extensive experience in design services for extraction facilities. We work with your extraction designers and architects to ensure that your mechanical, electrical, and plumbing utilities and systems are adequate for the space, including Class I/Div 1 and 2 considerations, emergency power, and alarms. Our team will ensure that your facility is safe and up to the latest codes and best design practices.

GOALS
This is one example of many kitchen projects that Root Engineers has provided MEP design services on.

PROCESS
Our team works with your kitchen designers and architects to ensure that your mechanical, electrical, and plumbing utilities and systems are adequate for the space. Example systems include power and gas for kitchen equipment, makeup air and exhaust for kitchen hoods, waste design such as grease interceptors or water sizing, and connections to kitchen equipment including water heaters.
